One of the things that struck me most about the abandoned homesteads of Adams County, Washington was that there were few signs of human destruction. Nature, and nature alone, were the cause of the decay. Of course, I’m separating human behavior from the “natural” for the sake of this story – and it’s a philosophical debate that I have zero interest at all in engaging.
All I’m saying is, it’s the elements.
