To Join Its Flood

This is a shot near where the Golden Spike was driven marking the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in North America. Here, we are looking east, in the direction that the Union Pacific was moving.

The photo itself is an accidental companion to William Henry Jackson’s shot looking in the same direction. The switch in the middle of my photo is in the distance in his.

I wasn’t aware of this photo until quite recently, though I wish I would have been, as I would have tried to match his as well.
